Obituary of death of fellow Professor Carolina Odman-Govender, wife of colleague and friend Kevin Govender

With great sadness and pain, I extend, in my name and on behalf of all members of the Astronomy Development Office for the Arab Region, heartfelt condolences to my colleague and friend, Kevin Govinder, Director of the Astronomy Development Office of the International Astronomical Union, on the death of his wife.

Who moved to God Almighty’s mercy after a long struggle with illness. And from my personal knowledge of it and through numerous meetings in global astronomical events, I recall the wonderful and distinguished works of the late doctor in the field of astronomy and what she presented to the astronomical scientific community, not only at the level of South Africa and the African continent, but also at the level of the whole world, as her loss is considered a grave loss for everyone who knew her among her fellow astronomers and for the astronomical community around the world, because of what was known about her Her adhesion and love for astronomy and her effective contribution to the field of astronomical research and the development of astronomy in Africa, in addition to her participation and communication with the global astronomical community.
I also extend, on behalf of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences and all members of the Supreme Council, my heartfelt condolences to her husband. Kevin Govender and her children, family, friends, colleagues and students.
